Job description

The Delivery & Paint Associate plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the timely, accurate, and professional delivery of paint, decorating products, and related materials to customers and Grauer's retail locations. This position is primarily responsible for deliveries but also serves as an essential member of our retail team by assisting customers, processing orders, maintaining inventory, and supporting daily store operations.

This role requires flexibility to work between both Grauer's store locations and adapt to changing business needs. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently on deliveries while also thriving in a team-oriented retail environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesDeliveries & Customer Service
  • Safely load, transport, and unload paint and decorating products to customer job sites and store locations.
  • Verify delivery instructions, addresses, and product accuracy before leaving the store.
  • Ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
  • Obtain delivery confirmations through signatures, photos, or other required documentation.
  • Organize delivered products neatly at the job site, grouping products by color, sheen, or project when appropriate.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during every delivery, serving as an extension of the Grauer's customer experience.
  • Look for opportunities to add value by recommending complementary products or identifying future sales opportunities.
  • Communicate customer feedback, competitor information, delivery updates, and sales opportunities to store management and the sales team.
Store Support & Sales

When not completing deliveries, actively support daily store operations by:

  • Assisting customers in-store, over the phone, and digitally with paint and decorating products.
  • Building customer relationships through friendly, knowledgeable service.
  • Processing customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Mixing paint to customer specifications and performing custom color matches.
  • Assisting customers with decorating products including wallpaper, window treatments, and color selection.
  • Promoting add-on products through suggestive selling, including brushes, rollers, primers, caulk, wallpaper, and window treatments.
  • Assisting customers with loading purchases into their vehicles.
  • Supporting new business development through customer engagement and lead generation.
  • Working closely with Outside Sales Representatives by identifying qualified sales opportunities.
Inventory & Store Operations
  • Receive, stock, and organize merchandise.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and assist with inventory counts.
  • Ensure shelves, displays, and promotional areas remain clean, organized, stocked, and properly priced.
  • Report inventory discrepancies or shortages to management.
Vehicle & Equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized delivery vehicle.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections, fueling, and basic maintenance coordination.
  • Report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Maintain delivery documentation and communicate route or customer updates to management.
Store Maintenance
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance throughout both stores.
  • Complete daily maintenance tasks including:
    • Filling tint machines
    • Sweeping and mopping
    • Cleaning restrooms
    • Emptying trash
    • Dusting
    • Facing shelves
    • General housekeeping inside and outside the store
Teamwork & Flexibility
  • Work collaboratively with both retail locations to meet customer and business needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working at either Grauer's location and adjusting daily responsibilities as priorities change.
  • Assist wherever needed to ensure smooth store operations and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
