Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including obtaining detailed medical histories and performing physical examinations to identify normal and abnormal findings for both new and returning patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and community members from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that care is accessible and culturally competent.
  • Order, perform, and evaluate diagnostic studies, initiating any necessary follow-up actions based on results.
  • Order lab tests and collect specimens for routine assessments and therapeutic procedures to facilitate accurate diagnoses.
  • Coordinate the necessary physical, occupational, and respiratory therapies as well as imaging and nursing services to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Showcase competency in performing specific procedures as per standardized protocols, ensuring safe practices in all operations.
  • Assist the supervising physician during surgical procedures, acting as a first or second assistant, including patient positioning and instrument handling.
  • Recognize and react promptly to situations requiring immediate medical intervention, implementing life-saving measures as necessary.
  • Facilitate the continuum of care for both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring smooth transitions and comprehensive follow-up.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department to enhance patient care standards.
Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physician Assistant in Pain Management, you will engage with a diverse patient population, including individuals suffering from acute injuries, chronic pain disorders, and those requiring postoperative pain management. This role allows for the treatment of patients across various ages, ensuring that care strategies are tailored to meet the specific developmental and psychosocial needs of each patient.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Graduation from a PA program recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
  • Current PA state licensure to practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • DEA registration for controlled substances.
Preferred Experience
