Job Description:

As a Materials Purchaser and Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the inventory of materials required for our fabrication projects. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality materials to meet production schedules and maintain our standards of excellence. You will be responsible for overseeing the packing of goods and scheduling of all logistics related booking so products will be delivered on time and budget.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Material Sourcing and Procurement:

    • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for materials such as MDF, acrylic, plywood and laminates. 
    • Sourcing of custom/bespoke items effectively and in a timely manner.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best deals.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
  2. Inventory Management:

    • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure materials are available when needed without overstocking.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Implement inventory control procedures to optimize storage and reduce waste.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure all materials purchased meet the company's quality standards and specifications.
    • Collaborate with the production team to address any material-related issues or concerns.
    • Conduct supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
  4. Cost Management:

    • Develop and manage the procurement budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
    • Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
  5. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Issue POs and ensure supplier compliance.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with the production, design, and project management teams to understand material requirements and project timelines.
    • Provide regular updates on material availability, delivery schedules, and flag potential delays early.
  7. Logistics:
    • Supervise and coordinate the packing of goods to ensure they are correctly and adequately protected
    • Ensure goods are packed appropriately and according to schedule
    • Manage goods in, goods out, and materials inventory
    • Ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the logistics area
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the manufacturing or wood industry.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of materials used in fabrication (MDF, acrylic, plywood, laminates, fabrics, etc) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in logistics management or a similar role
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of packing techniques and materials handling
