Job description

Job Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Description

This role is based is in a distribution center in SE Calgary, where you will be cross-trained across multiple departments in a highly automated fulfillment environment. You will operate material handling equipment such as power pallet jacks, reach forklifts, and order pickers, while using computer systems and RF scanners to support accurate picking, packing, shipping, and receiving activities. The position involves repetitive tasks and regular heavy lifting of items up to 50 lbs, with team lifts for heavier products. Comprehensive MHE training is provided on the first day, and successful completion with a minimum score of 80% is required to continue in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Operate material handling equipment (MHE), including power pallet jacks, reach forklifts, order pickers, Centre Riders, and Crown machines, in a safe and efficient manner for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Use RF scanners and computer systems to accurately pick, pack, label, and process orders within a fulfillment center.
  • Perform shipping and receiving duties, including loading and unloading trucks, handling inventory, and organizing materials within warehouse racking and storage areas.
  • Lift and move items up to 50 lbs repeatedly over 10-hour shifts, using team lifts for heavier products to ensure safety.
  • Carry out repetitive general labor tasks such as packaging, palletizing, and staging orders while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work across multiple warehouse departments, including non-convoy (manual and forklift-based operations with heavier products) and convoy (automated picking), as part of cross-training.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed safety shoes or boots and other provided gear.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the facility, adhering to housekeeping and operational standards.
  • Meet essential performance requirements such as productivity, accuracy, and quality targets while working with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in initial MHE training and ongoing skill development, obtaining and maintaining an MHE license as required.
  • Respond to shift offers, including potential overtime shifts, through the scheduling app or email using a personal mobile device, and coordinate with supervisors for approval.
  • Support a positive workplace culture by being coachable, reliable, and willing to learn new tasks and equipment across different departments.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly for up to 10 hours per day and perform frequent heavy lifting.
  • Ability and willingness to be trained to operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and order pickers for extended periods.
  • Comfort working on your feet for long shifts and performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain accuracy while picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and handling inventory.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain consistent performance throughout long shifts.
  • Basic computer operation skills, including the use of RF scanners and automated picking systems.
  • Must have steel-toed safety shoes or boots available on the first day of work.
  • Ability to meet all essential performance and safety requirements of the position.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid MHE license.
  • Minimum education level of high school completion.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Warehouse experience is preferred, particularly in general labor, order picking, shipping, receiving, loading, unloading, and material handling, but full training is provided for junior workers.
  • Experience using RF scanners for inventory management, picking, and packing is an asset.
  • Previous forklift or pallet jack experience and familiarity with automated warehouse systems are beneficial.
  • Willingness to learn different departments and various types of forklifts and warehouse machinery.
  • Reliability, coachability, and a strong work ethic, with openness to cross-training and skill development.
  • Ability to adapt to varying workloads, including peak season demands and additional shifts when offered.

Work Environment

The role is based in a facility located in SE Calgary. Work takes place across different departments, including a non-convoy area with manual and forklift operations in racked storage for heavier products, and a convoy area focused on automated picking. You will use equipment such as Centre Riders and Crown machines, along with RF scanners and computer systems, in a structured warehouse setting. Shifts run 10 hours per day, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., three days per week with the expectation to flex up to four days during busy periods, especially from October to January. During peak season, additional shifts may be offered, including a potential fifth shift, with overtime paid after 44 hours in a week. Extra shifts are communicated through an app or email, and you can respond using your own mobile device for approval. Steel-toed safety shoes or boots are required, and other personal protective equipment is provided as appropriate, supporting a safety-focused, professional warehouse environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
