Job description

Position: Packer I (Second Shift)
Location: DeKalb
Shift: Monday - Thursday | 4:15 PM - 2:45 AM
Pay Rate: $18.76/hour + $1.25 shift premium (Effective Rate: $20.01/hour)
Summary Description
While reporting directly to the Shift Lead, the Packer I is responsible for supporting production within the Thermoforming department by packing finished goods, monitoring quality, handling reclaim material, and ensuring production requirements are met safely and accurately.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Verify job orders to determine correct box quantity and corrugated size for each production run
  • Confirm all required materials are staged and ready for packing
  • Position and mark reclaim carts according to reclaim guidelines during production
  • Visually inspect product for defects to ensure quality standards are met
  • Pack finished goods according to customer specifications
  • Set scales for first full box and monitor weights during production
  • Label, seal, and palletize finished boxes
  • Complete production documentation accurately and on time
  • Ensure machine guarding is in place for safe operation
  • Rotate and replace reclaim carts, pallets, and finished goods as needed
  • Remove scrap from machines and place into designated reclaim carts
  • Monitor reclaim quality according to reclaim procedures
  • Perform daily housekeeping to keep work area clean and free of debris
