CDS Office Technologies is a leading Managed Technology and Security Services Provider serving organizations throughout the Midwest and Florida. As our Managed Technology Services division continues to grow, we are seeking a Tier 2 Field Engineer to join our team of IT and cybersecurity professionals. You'll be providing onsite and remote support for client infrastructure, cloud environments, networking, cybersecurity, and business technology solutions.
The ideal candidate is a motivated technical professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with clients, and participating in technology projects that improve business operations, reliability, and cybersecurity posture.
The Tier 2 Field Engineer works closely with our IT Support Engineering Team (Help Desk), other Field Engineers, Project Management Team, and Account Management teams to support client environments and deliver exceptional service. This role collaborates across departments to resolve complex technical issues, implement infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions, and successfully deliver client projects. This position reports directly to the Regional IT Director.

Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite and remote support for client IT infrastructure, hardware, software, and cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity solutions
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain servers, workstations, networking equipment, and business applications
  • Support and administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Entra IDDeploy, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms including Hyper-V
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VPN connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and other network infrastructure components
  • Support endpoint security, email security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
  • Perform preventative maintenance, environment assessments, and system audits to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Participate in infrastructure, cloud, networking, and cybersecurity projects for client environments
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 migrations, server replacements, network upgrades, and security initiatives
  • Document technical work, update service tickets, maintain client records, and contribute to internal documentation
  • Collaborate with the IT Support Engineering Team, fellow engineers, project managers, and account management teams to resolve complex issues efficiently
  • Develop trusted client relationships through exceptional customer service and communication
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide emergency support when required
  • Assist sales and account management teams with occasional technical discovery meetings, solution discussions, and pre-sales opportunities
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting business IT infrastructure in a systems administration, network administration, field engineering, or MSP environment
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Windows Server, and desktop operating systems
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, including Hyper-V
  • Strong understanding of business networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, wireless networking, firewalls, and VPN technologies
  • Experience supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
  • Experience implementing and supporting cybersecurity technologies and industry best practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and client expectations
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment is preferred
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365, or equivalent certifications are preferred but not required
