Job description

Position Summary

The Production Associate – Tray Pack Division is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the preparation, packaging, and labeling of poultry products for retail customers.

This position plays an important role in ensuring that all products meet Holly Poultry’s quality, food safety, and customer specifications. The associate works in a refrigerated environment as part of a production team to ensure consistent output, proper packaging, and adherence to SQF, USDA, and company standards.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assemble, weigh, and package poultry products into retail trays according to product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Inspect products for quality, size, and appearance before packaging.
  • Operate or assist in the operation of production line equipment such as scales, labelers, and sealers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company sanitation policies.
  • Follow all food safety, people safety, and SQF guidelines at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Notify supervisor of any equipment issues, product inconsistencies, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Comply with all company policies, including attendance, dress code, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and packaging operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and quality requirements (training provided).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product or labeling issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, cold, and repetitive environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods (8-10+ hours per shift).
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Comfortable working in a cold environment and handling raw poultry.
  • Must wear required PPE at all times.

Work Environment

  • The work environment is refrigerated, fast-paced, and production-focused.
  • Strict adherence to Holly Poultry's safety and SQF standards is required.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience in food processing, poultry, or packaging preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Candidate must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug and background screen.
