POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, and converting new engineered packaging sales opportunities while providing technical and engineering support to existing customers. This role combines business development, customer engagement, and packaging engineering expertise to develop solutions that improve product protection, transportation efficiency, material utilization, and total delivered cost.

The Sales Engineer will work directly with prospective and existing customers to understand their packaging requirements, develop and present engineered solutions, coordinate prototypes and testing, and support opportunities through validation and commercialization. For existing customers, the Sales Engineer will provide ongoing technical support, including Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), design modifications, material changes, cost-reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and drive new packaging sales opportunities by identifying customer needs and recommending engineered solutions.
  • Develop andmaintaina pipeline of new business opportunities in partnership with the Sales team and Engineered Packages Services (EPS) leadership.
  • Partner with Sales and EPS leadership to build andmaintaina pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Engage directly with prospective and existing customers to understand their packaging, protection, freight, cost, and sustainability requirements.
  • Develop concepts, prototypes, samples, drawings, specifications, and technical presentations to support the sales process.
  • Establish the technical solution and overall value proposition to support customer proposals and quotes.
  • Oversee and manage prototype development, testing, trials, validation, and approval to move opportunities from concept through commercialization.
  • Provide ongoing engineering support for existing customers, including ECOs, drawing revisions, material substitutions, design modifications, and specification updates.
  • Proactivelyidentifycost-reduction, freight-optimization, sustainability, and continuous-improvement opportunities within existing customer programs.
  • Maintain visibility into active opportunities, project status, customer requirements, next steps, and commercialization timelines.
  • Identifyand pursue new customer opportunities through prospecting, referrals, and strategic account development.
  • Monitor market trends, new materials, and packaging technologies toidentifyopportunities for innovation and competitive differentiation.
  • Support strategic initiativestiedwithcompany growth,salesand optimization.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards and engineering best practices.

BASE PAY:

The listed range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this opportunity at the time of this posting. Actual compensation is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s experience, education, certifications, knowledge, skills and geography/ work location, and may ultimately be more or less than the posted range. Base pay does not include other forms of compensation, such as our offered benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA and 401k plan, holiday, sick and vacation days.
