Position Description:Lead and manage Design & Engineering (D&E) execution for xPL Offsite Manufacturing projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, constructible, fabrication-ready, and installation-supported design packages, ensuring alignment with xPL Offsite strategic objectives while promoting innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Serve as primary coordination interface for D&E, managing scope, schedule, priorities, deliverables, design decisions, risks, changes, and handoffs from project intake through production release, and fabrication and installation support.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Design & Engineering (D&E) project execution for xPL Offsite manufacturing initiatives and serve as primary point of contact and coordination interface for D&E across architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, prefabrication, manufacturing, and installation stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage design schedules, budgets, and resource plans for projects to achieve on-time completion, within budget, and to meet or exceed quality and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, Engineers, and stakeholders to integrate design intent with manufacturability, lean principles, and offsite construction (OSC) best practices.
  • Confirm product designs meet specifications, quality, and contractual requirements throughout review and approval processes for OSM drawings generated for assigned projects.
  • Oversee production of technical drawings, Building Information Modeling (BIM) models, specifications, and documentation, ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments to optimize prefabrication opportunities, reduce waste, and improve project outcomes.
  • Own and maintain D&E deliverables tracker, including models, submittal packages, shop drawings, fabrication documentation, Bill of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, design reviews, approvals, release milestones, open issues, and lessons learned.
  • Manage design risks, changes, and issues; conduct regular progress meetings, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide timely reports to leadership.
  • Support consistent use of digital tools (e.g., BIM, Revit, and other advanced modeling technologies) to enhance design efficiency and collaboration.
  • Manage quality assurance to identify and eliminate model clashes throughout design coordination process.
  • Support team development, reinforce project execution best practices, improve communication routines, contribute feedback to functional leaders, participate in recruiting as requested, and foster culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, procurement, and construction teams to facilitate seamless transition from design to production and field installation.
  • Review and contribute to proposals, estimates, and contract documents related to design scope.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation, lessons learned, and compliance with safety, quality, and sustainability standards.
  • Travel periodically to manufacturing facilities, project sites, vendor facilities, or other xPL locations to support execution.
  • Contribute to related design, coordination, and manufacturing support activities as needed to advance xPL product and project delivery.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, with minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in design project management within construction, prefabrication, modular/offsite manufacturing, design-build, or AEC industry; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Professional licensure or certification such as (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA)) or certifications (Project Management Professional (PMP), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)), or equivalent technical/project management credential preferred
  • Experience managing design, engineering, or product-development execution in construction, offsite manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, modular systems, or engineered-product environments, may be considered in lieu of licensure
  • Experience in industrial, power/energy, data center, or modular construction sectors is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes, Revit, AutoCAD, and other design/drafting tools; experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/ Material Requirements Planning (MRP) or prefabrication software, a plus
  • Thorough understanding of building codes, OSHA/safety standards, constructability, and lean design/manufacturing principles
  • Track record managing multi-disciplinary design teams, schedules, budgets, and experience managing and delivering concurrent complex projects on time and within budget
