Job description

As a Early Head Start Full-time Teacher Aide, you will provide a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment for children. You will report to an Early Head Start Supervising Teacher and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate classroom management skills, work as a part of a team, and complete records, reports, and data collection.
  • Individualize curriculum based on each child's specific strengths and areas of need.
  • Facilitate screenings and ongoing assessments for assigned children.
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
  • Supervise and interact with children during family-style mealtimes and activities.
  • Demonstrate respect for families' values, strengths, and culture by welcoming their contributions and participation, and designing learning experiences accordingly.
  • Participate in training and learning opportunities, including those focused on learning and implementing curricula and classroom design and management.
  • Follow fire drills, shelter-in-place, intruder, or any emergency procedures to safely assist children following protocols.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires the physical ability to frequently lift, carry, and supervise infants and toddlers in classroom and playground settings. Daily duties include sitting on the floor, engaging in child-centered activities, and moving fluidly between bending, kneeling, and squatting positions. The employee must be able to respond quickly to active children and emergencies, and lift children or equipment, lifting to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements and Education:
  • High school diploma or GED with at least one year of experience working directly with children OR Degree in a related field with at least 6 months working directly with children required
  • Within 30 days of hire, you must be enrolled in a program leading to a Child Development Associate Credential OR already be enrolled in a program leading to an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 12 early childhood credits
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds required
