Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) Manager

Play an integral role in shaping how major projects are planned, sequenced, and delivered. As the Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) Manager, you will lead the implementation of industry-leading work packaging strategies that improve safety, productivity, schedule certainty, and execution performance across complex engineering, procurement, and construction projects. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence project outcomes from early planning through field execution while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and customers to drive excellence in project delivery

Purpose of the role

The Manager, Advanced Work Packaging is responsible for providing strategic leadership and governance for Advanced Work Packaging methodologies across assigned projects. You will champion the integration of construction-driven planning principles, ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and project controls activities。

Working closely with project leadership, customers, and functional stakeholders, you will establish and maintain work packaging strategies that support efficient execution, optimize resource utilization, reduce project risk, and improve overall project performance. As a recognized subject matter expert, you will drive the adoption of AWP best practices while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business

You will be responsible for
  • Leading the development and implementation of Advanced Work Packaging strategies and execution plans across one or more projects。
  • Providing leadership for the development and integration of Construction Work Areas (CWAs), Construction Work Packages (CWPs), Engineering Work Packages (EWPs), Procurement Work Packages (PWPs), and Installation Work Packages (IWPs)。
  • Driving alignment between engineering deliverables, procurement activities, fabrication schedules, construction sequencing, and project milestones。
  • Facilitating Integrated Planning Sessions, Path of Construction workshops, readiness reviews, and project execution planning activities。
  • Partnering with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Supply Chain, Project Controls, Digital Delivery, and customer teams to establish project execution priorities and objectives。
  • Ensuring the effective deployment and governance of AWP standards, processes, systems, and tools。
  • Monitoring work package readiness and identifying risks, constraints, and opportunities that may impact project execution。
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership to AWP personnel, Workface Planners, and project teams。
  • Supporting proposal development, customer presentations, execution strategy development, and business growth opportunities。
  • Promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement。
  • Driving data integrity, reporting, and performance measurement through AWP systems and project management tools。
  • Supporting the successful delivery of projects by improving predictability, workface productivity, schedule performance, and customer outcomes

What you’ll bring to the role
  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience。
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in engineering, procurement, construction, project delivery, workface planning, project controls, or Advanced Work Packaging environments。
  • Demonstrated experience leading Advanced Work Packaging implementation on large EPC, EPCM, energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or industrial projects。
  • Strong understanding of construction execution, workface planning, project controls, scheduling methodologies, and construction readiness processes。
  • Experience developing and managing Construction Work Areas, Construction Work Packages, Engineering Work Packages, Procurement Work Packages, and Installation Work Packages。
  • Proven ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with customers, project leadership, and functional stakeholders。
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance strategic priorities with practical project execution requirements。
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills。
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with experience mentoring teams, developing talent, and driving organizational improvement。
  • Commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and operational excellence。
  • Advanced problem-solving capability with the ability to navigate complex project challenges and develop practical solutions that deliver business value。
