Job description

Material Handler

The Material Handler directs the flow of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing process from receipt of work order through final approval, consistent with production requirements and constraints. Some data entry. Measured against established standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and record stock inventory levels and report inventory variances.
  • Understand warehouse and material movement process flow.
  • Ability to operate pallet jack to move material from warehouse to APO and inside APO department.
  • Basic data entry into the ERP system, assigning and returning material.
  • Read, understand and follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Communicate effectively and escalate issues to production lead or supervisor.
  • Exercise good judgment by making sound decisions and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Work autonomously throughout the day with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain attendance in good standing with a good attitude and positive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language and be understood.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in the use of computer software programs and accessing information from the company computer system.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, focus on details.
  • Performs well under pressure and can handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation.
  • Must have basic organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience with a medical device manufacturer.
  • 2+ years of experience in warehouse job functions.
  • Forklift certification or demonstrate experience in operating a forklift.
  • Injection molding or assembly operations knowledge.
  • Physical / Mental Demands:

    • Will work between a warehouse, transition room, and a cleanroom manufacturing floor with no abnormal hazards or risks. Protective safety clothing is required, including appropriate dress code: no makeup or jewelry, shoe coverings, gloves, hairnet, and lab coat as needed.
    • Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 25 pounds and moving/pulling up to 100 pounds using a pallet jack.
    • Must be able to sit or stand for up to eight hours or throughout most of a shift with occasional walking.
    • Repetitive bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
    • Work may require weekend and evening work.
    • Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be alert, able to concentrate, and use good judgment.
