Job description

Reporting directly to the Hospital's Administrator and Chief Nursing Officer, the NURSING SUPERVISOR assures the continuity of effective, high quality patient care for an assigned shift. In the absence of the Hospital Administrator, the NURSING SUPERVISOR has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions with appropriate notification of Senior Leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Effectively coordinates patient care, making rounds to assess operations and problem solve in a timely manner
  • Ensures compliance with hospital/nursing policies, procedures and standards as well as regulatory agency requirements
  • Demonstrates expertise in clinical practice, providing immediate support to nursing staff
  • Evaluates staffing needs ensuring compliance with staffing regulations
  • Educates nursing staff on clinical practice as necessary
  • Effectively communicates with Nursing Leadership and Hospital Administrator/Chief Nursing Officer
  • Fosters an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors, ensuring hospital acquired conditions do not occur
  • May function as Administrator-in-Charge in absence of Senior Leadership

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current CA RN License
  • Current BLS / ACLS
  • Experience in general acute care, behavioral health and sub-acute environments preferred
  • Three (3) years acute clinical experience
  • One (1) progressive management experience required
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement in performing day-to-day activities, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a stressful environment
