Commercial Kitchen Gas Equipment Service Technician
City Food Equipment – Lombard, IL
Pay: $19–$22/hour (based on experience) + Overtime
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday + Overtime as Needed  
Job Summary 
City Food Equipment, a leading commercial restaurant equipment company serving the Chicagoland area since 1985, is seeking a skilled Commercial Kitchen Gas Equipment Service Technician to join our growing service team. 
This role is ideal for an experienced technician who can work independently in the field, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and deliver high-quality service to customers.  
Responsibilities 
  •  Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial gas cooking equipment 
  •  Service ovens, fryers, ranges, griddles, broilers, and steamers 
  •  Inspect and repair gas systems (valves, regulators, burners, ignition systems) 
  •  Ensure proper gas pressure, combustion, and ventilation 
  •  Detect gas leaks and maintain safety/code compliance 
  •  Read and interpret schematics and service manuals 
  •  Perform preventive maintenance and equipment testing 
  •  Complete service reports (parts, labor, diagnostics) 
  •  Communicate clearly with customers on repairs and timelines 
  •  Manage service calls independently in the field 
  •  Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory 

 
Requirements
 
  •  Experience with commercial gas-fired kitchen equipment 
  •  Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills 
  •  Knowledge of gas systems and safety controls 
  •  Ability to read technical manuals and schematics 
  •  Valid driver’s license with clean driving record 

 
Preferred
 
  •  3+ years of experience in commercial kitchen equipment service 
  •  EPA certification (for combination units) 
  •  Manufacturer training or certifications 
  •  Field service experience 
  •  Bilingual (English/Spanish)
