Responsibilities
Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles, including manual transmission trucks, across designated routes.
Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo.
Drive a variety of trailers, including refrigerated trailers for temperature-sensitive goods, flatbeds for oversized loads, tankers for liquid freight, and dump trucks for bulk materials.
Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle inspections in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
Route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
Experience
Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a focus on freight delivery; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued.
Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with necessary endorsements for the types of trailers operated (e.g., refrigerated, tanker).
Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and confidently.
Experience driving tractor-trailers or similar large vehicles in various environments.
Familiarity with load & unload procedures using forklifts or other equipment; experience with flatbed, roll-off trucks, or dump trucks is a plus.
Knowledge of route planning and route driving best practices to optimize efficiency.
