About this Position

As a member of the OSU Agriculture's Office of Communications and Marketing, this individual develops content for digital, social, mobile, web, earned-media and broadcast distribution, helping OSU Extension, Ag Research and the Ferguson College of Agriculture connect OSU expertise with audiences across Oklahoma.

The position also serves as a producer/director for SUNUP, a flagship OSU Extension and Ag Research program. It supports repurposed content that is delivered through YouTube, social media, Extension channels, news outlets and emerging digital platforms.

In addition to technical expertise, the successful candidate must be detail-oriented, adaptable, adept at multitasking and a self-starter. Experience in videography and editing, with working knowledge of Adobe Premiere software, is required. The individual must be able to work as part of a team under strict deadlines while maintaining flexibility in ever-changing situations. Requires some travel; travel budget provided.

This highly visible position requires interacting with colleagues, clients and stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization. The duty reporting station is in person on the OSU campus in Stillwater.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is a team of experienced professionals committed to elevating agricultural sciences and natural resources programs and services at OSU. We deliver all aspects of integrated communications and marketing: digital, web and social media, branding and campaigns, television shows and educational videos, news and feature stories, photography, graphic design and publications. We serve as the news, information and marketing team for OSU Extension, OSU Ag Research and OSU's Ferguson College of Agriculture. https://agdivision.okstate.edu/ag-comm-marketing/

Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED

    Communications, agricultural communications, journalism, broadcasting, digital media, video production or related fields. Knowledge of agriculture is a plus.  

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • 5 years professional experience. Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Valid driver's license. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel. Some travel is required, including overnight stays. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend work. 

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Experience in multimedia production and digital storytelling, which includes videography, writing, producing, editing, graphic design and team collaboration. Experience in producing content for YouTube and social media, in addition to traditional broadcast or long-form video. Proficiency with professional cameras, audio equipment, lighting and non-linear editing software. 

Strong creative and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in the university setting, the ability to work independently and safely in field-production environments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic understanding of AI and ability to work under a deadline, both within a strategic communications team and independently to develop content ideas and translate technical or research-based information into clear, compelling public-facing content.

Ability to provide feedback to faculty and staff on their delivery,  on-camera appearance and interview skills for optimal credibility in achieving audience engagement goals.

Strong project-management skills and the ability to meet a demanding weekly production schedule.

Ability to travel throughout Oklahoma, work outdoors in varying conditions year-round and carry 25 pounds of equipment.

Capacity to respond quickly and calmly during emerging issues or urgent communications needs.

Collaborate with fellow OCM staff to present in-service trainings related to video to OSU Agriculture faculty and staff; other duties as assigned.

On-camera reporting and interviewing experience preferred. Part 107 Drone Certification preferred.

This is a highly visible, public-facing position.
