J & K Communications Inc. is looking for a skilled and motivated Installer/Tower Climber to join our team in Columbia City, IN. Job Overview
This position involves the installation, maintenance, and removal of LMR, SCADA, and Microwave radio systems, primarily on free-standing towers and water tanks. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of tower climbing, equipment operation, and electrical systems, but training will be provided for those with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tower & Equipment Installation: Perform the installation and removal of LMR, SCADA, and Microwave radio systems on free-standing towers and water tanks, ensuring all work is done safely and according to industry standards.
  • Climbing & Rigging: Safely climb towers and water tanks for installation and maintenance work. Knowledge of rigging techniques and safety procedures is a plus but can be trained.
  • Electrical Systems: Basic understanding of Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) electrical systems, with the ability to assist in system installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Mobile Radio Installations: When not engaged in tower work, assist with mobile radio installations, including wiring and testing equipment in vehicles.
  • Tool Operation: Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively and safely in the completion of installations and maintenance tasks.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of all work completed, including installation details, testing results, and equipment used.
  • Customer Service: Communicate professionally with clients, providing support as needed and ensuring customer satisfaction with all installations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team to ensure projects are completed on time, safely, and to the highest standards.
  • Safety: Follow all safety protocols while working at heights or with electrical systems. Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Physical Demands: Lift heavy equipment and tools as needed and perform other physically demanding tasks on job sites.
  • Schedule: Work a Monday-Friday schedule, with overnight travel as necessary to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Prior experience with tower climbing, antenna installations, or radio system installations is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Basic understanding of Direct and Alternating Current (DC/AC) systems is required.
  • Climbing Experience: Previous tower climbing experience or certification is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with hand and power tools used in installations is essential.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Safety-Oriented: Must be very safety-conscious and adhere to all safety protocols when working with equipment and at heights.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver's license is required.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers and customers.
  • Teamwork: A positive, team-oriented attitude, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a group setting.
