Job description

Overnight Truck Loader / Backup Delivery DriverPosition Summary

The Overnight Truck Loader / Backup Delivery Driver is responsible for accurately loading freight for scheduled deliveries during overnight operations while serving as a backup delivery driver when needed. This position plays a vital role in ensuring shipments are loaded safely, efficiently, and delivered on time. Working in a fast-paced warehouse environment, the employee verifies orders, organizes freight, secures loads to minimize damage during transit, and follows all company safety procedures.

When assigned to driving duties, the employee is responsible for operating company delivery vehicles in a safe, professional manner while providing excellent customer service and complying with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Because this position may require driving commercial vehicles, candidates must be able to successfully complete and maintain a valid DOT medical certification.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials throughout an entire shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts on a consistent schedule.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT physical).
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all company safety procedures.

  • Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment safely, when authorized.
  • Inspect freight for damage and report discrepancies or shortages immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe loading area.
  • Work closely with warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure all trucks are loaded on schedule.
  • Serve as a backup delivery driver when assigned, delivering products safely and on time while following company policies and DOT regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections when operating company vehicles.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues, freight discrepancies, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Follow all company policies, OSHA safety standards, and applicable DOT regulations.
  • Perform other warehouse and delivery-related duties as assigned.
