Summary/Objective:
Supports the company mission statement by working as part of a crew on interior renovation and self-performance projects. This role focuses on demo, drywall, framing, door installation, finish carpentry, light plumbing, and general jobsite support. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded handyman type, capable of handling a variety of tasks, maintaining clean job sites, and contributing to efficient project execution.

HarperXS is focused on executing construction projects within active facilities and occupied spaces. It is the expectation of HarperXS that candidates be experienced working within this industry. HarperXS fully expects candidates to be willing to comply with client requirements and educate themselves on the conditions and expectations of working within their facilities.


Essential Functions:

Demolition and site preparation

  • Perform demo work (drywall, millwork, sinks, cabinets, interior finishes).
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization (a key priority).

Framing and drywall

  • Build and repair walls, including metal stud framing.
  • Install and repair drywall, complete patching and finishing.

Door and finish installation

  • Install doors, hardware, and related interior finishes with precision.
  • Support installation of miscellaneous interior items as required.

Plumbing (Basic)

  • Perform minor plumbing tasks (e.g., sink removal/installation, fixture work).
  • Recognize when to escalate more complex plumbing tasks.

General carpentry and misc. tasks

  • Perform light carpentry work to support interior renovations.
  • Assist with installing handrails, grating, supports, or other interior items.

Tools and equipment

  • Start with a basic personal tool set (e.g., drill/driver kit); the company provides most additional tools.
  • Safely use power and hand tools as required.

Scaffolding and form work

  • Use Baker scaffolds and basic ladders as needed (minimal scaffold erection).
  • Perform minimal form work; training provided where applicable.

Work Environment:This position is required to work in a variety of conditions related to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned. Exposure to weather, heat, etc. is expected.


Physical Demands:Must be able to physically perform the basic functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trades tasks, inspect the work of others and review work for accuracy, neatness and thoroughness.


Travel Required: Travel to/from multiple jobsites, projects, and offices. Minimal overnight or weekend travel. Valid US driver's license required.
