**Maintenance Technician

**Location:

** Skokie, IL 

**Pay:

** $25.00 - $27.00 (willing to negotiate for the right candidate)

**Schedule:

**Monday - Friday: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM

**Additional Hours:

** Must be willing to stay late when needed and work some Saturdays as needed.

**Position Summary

**

Our client fabricates industrial protective safety apparel and is seeking an experienced

**Maintenance Technician

** to support equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and facility maintenance projects. The primary focus of this position is keeping production equipment—

**especially sewing machines—operating safely and efficiently while also maintaining the facility and supporting overall safety standards.

**

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities

**

  • Assess, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair sewing machines and other production equipment promptly.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including basic painting and general building repairs.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to reduce equipment downtime and future problems.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors while considering quality and cost-effectiveness. Good communication skills. 

  • Follow the preventive maintenance schedule and maintain accurate maintenance records.

  • Monitor and maintain minimum/maximum inventory levels for spare parts used for production equipment and facility repairs. Order parts and supplies. 

  • Obtain vendor quotes and follow the purchasing process through purchase-order approval.

  • Support external audits and inspections to help ensure the facility meets applicable state and safety requirements.

  • Assist with areas including fire safety, building engineering assessments, insurance requirements, ergonomics, and security.

  • Respond to equipment and facility issues and prioritize repairs based on production and safety needs.

  • Support other departments and perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

**Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a

**hands-on Maintenance Technician

** with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills who can keep production equipment running, identify problems before they become major issues, and handle general facility repairs. Experience working with

**sewing machines or textile/manufacturing equipment

** is a strong advantage.

**Requirements

**

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; mechanical or technical training preferred.

  • **Bilingual: Spanish / English speaking

**

  • At least 2 years of experience in a Maintenance Technician or Facilities Technician role preferred.

  • Experience repairing and maintaining sewing machines and other mechanical production equipment is highly desired. Not mandatory. 

  • General building maintenance and repair experience preferred.

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Organized, self-motivated, dependable, and accountable.
