Job description

Help us bring cutting-edge wireless and sensing technologies to market in a compliant way!

MatrixSpace develops AI-enabled radar and sensing systems that bridge the physical and digital worlds. By combining embedded systems, advanced radar, cloud computing, and AI, we're building technologies that deliver powerful real-world intelligence.

We're looking for a hands-on Regulatory Compliance Engineer who enjoys solving complex RF and EMC challenges, working in the lab, and helping products successfully navigate certification and qualification testing.

This role is part compliance engineer, part investigator, and part problem solver. You'll lead FCC certification efforts, support environmental qualification testing, troubleshoot RF and EMI issues, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure compliance is designed into our products from the start.

If you're energized by root-cause analysis, RF testing, and turning difficult compliance challenges into engineering wins, we'd love to talk.

What You'll Do

  • Lead FCC compliance testing and certification activities for wireless and radar products, including Part 15, Part 87, and Part 90 requirements
  • Plan and execute transmitter compliance testing, including output power, bandwidth, frequency stability, and emissions measurements
  • Own Part 15 unintentional radiator testing, including radiated and conducted emissions
  • Coordinate testing and certification activities with external compliance labs and Telecom Certification Bodies (TCBs)
  • Support environmental qualification testing, including shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, and other applicable standards
  • Investigate test failures, identifyroot causes, and drive corrective actions to improve compliance margins
  • Develop compliance documentation, test plans, certification exhibits, and qualification reports
  • Partner with hardware, RF, firmware, and systems engineers to build compliance into product designs early and efficiently

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, RF testing, qualification testing, or related engineering roles
  • Experience with FCC intentional radiator certification under Part 15 and/or Part 87 and/or Part 90
  • Hands-on lab experience and strong debugging skills
  • Experience working directly with compliance laboratories, certification bodies, or regulatory agencies
  • Strong understanding of RF system behavior, EMI mitigation, grounding, shielding, filtering, and system-level troubleshooting
  • Experience developing test plans, documentation, and compliance reports
  • Ability to work onsite at our Hoffman Estates facility with occasional travel to compliance and environmental test labs

Someone Who Will Thrive in This Role...

  • Enjoys digging into complex technical problems and finding practical solutions
  • Likes working hands-on with hardware in the lab
  • Approaches testing failures as engineering puzzles rather than roadblocks
  • Collaborates effectively across disciplines whilemaintainingstrong technical ownership
  • Is energized by educating teams about regulatory environments
  • Balances attention to detail with a pragmatic, problem-solving mindset

Bonus Points

  • Experience with radar systems, RF communications, or advanced sensing technologies
  • Experience with MIL-STD-810 or similar environmental qualification standards
  • Familiarity with EMC design best practices and pre-compliance testing techniques
  • Experience supporting products from development through certification and production
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or other highly regulated industries

At MatrixSpace, compliance can't be a box-checking exercise—it must be a critical part of building reliable, high-performance products. You'll help ensure our technologies meet demanding regulatory requirements while working alongside world-class engineers developing the next generation of sensing and wireless systems. If you enjoy solving difficult technical challenges and seeing products successfully make it to market, we'd love to hear from you.
