Overnight Remote Organic Farm information

What is an overnight remote organic farm worker?

An Overnight Remote Organic Farm worker is someone who performs agricultural tasks related to organic farming, such as planting, harvesting, tending to crops, or monitoring farm operations during nighttime hours. This position is performed remotely, which may involve overseeing automated systems, managing farm data, or coordinating logistics from a distance rather than working directly in the fields. The focus is on maintaining organic farming standards while ensuring operations run smoothly overnight. Tasks often include monitoring environmental controls, handling customer orders, or providing support to on-site staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight remote organic farm worker?

To thrive as an Overnight Remote Organic Farm Worker, you need a basic understanding of organic farming practices, crop management, and preferably prior experience in agriculture. Familiarity with remote monitoring systems, farm management software, and possibly certifications in organic agriculture can be beneficial. Strong time management, self-motivation, and clear communication skills are essential for working independently during overnight hours. These skills ensure safe, efficient farm operations and adherence to organic standards even without on-site supervision.

What are some common challenges faced when working overnight remotely for an organic farm, and how can they be addressed?

Working overnight remotely for an organic farm often involves challenges such as managing time zone differences, ensuring effective communication with on-site staff, and handling urgent issues without immediate physical presence. Building strong communication routines, utilizing farm management software, and establishing clear protocols for emergencies can help address these challenges. Staying organized and proactive in checking in with the team helps maintain workflow continuity and supports the farm's operations, even during off-hours.

Job description

Position: Technical Sales Representative
Territory: Washington · Oregon Columbia Basin · Treasure Valley ID/OR
Location: Remote / US
Type: Full-time

The Opportunity

Ohalo is hiring Technical Sales Representatives to help build and scale our commercial presence. This is a remote, field-based role with ownership of a defined geographic territory (Washington and Oregon Columbia Basin, Treasure Valley ID/OR). You will be responsible for managing our Founders Farm program within the designated territory, developing strong relationships with growers and partners, and most importantly driving seed sales as we bring new products to market.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an early-stage environment, enjoys being in the field, and wants to help shape how a new agricultural technology is commercialized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership in managing the defined sales territory (Washington and Oregon Columbia Basin, Treasure Valley ID/OR)
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for Ohalo's Founders Farm program in the defined sales territory
  • Drive seed sales growth within the territory, from lead generation through close, carrying a quota
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with growers and other key stakeholders
  • Educate customers on Ohalo's technology, value proposition, and product performance
  • Collect and relay market feedback, customer insights, and competitive intelligence to internal teams
  • Professionally represent Ohalo at field days, grower meetings, and industry events
  • Travel regularly within the territory (~50%), including day trips and occasional overnight travel
  • Maintain accurate activity tracking and forecasting using company tools and CRM systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, plant science, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Deep passion for transformative change in agriculture and a genuine entrepreneurial mindset — you see yourself as the owner of a small business that is part of a much larger industry shift
  • 5+ years of experience in agricultural sales, seed sales, agronomy, or a related commercial role
  • Background in adjacent crops such as carrots, onions, or sugar beets, or vegetable seed sales strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with volcanic soil regions and regional vegetable processor networks is a plus
  • Familiarity with grower operations and agricultural production systems; knowledge of potato production is a bonus but not required
  • Proven ability to build trust-based relationships with growers and partners
  • Self-starter comfortable working remotely with minimal oversight
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory, with some required extended travel outside of the assigned sales geography
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills

Compensation

This role includes a competitive base salary, performance-based variable compensation, and an equity component.
