 Position Summary

This role supports the successful production and delivery of vehicles/products to the Customer by driving cross-functional issue resolution, coordinating retrofit plans for fielded vehicles, and supporting Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and other process improvement initiatives. The individual in this role has full specialized knowledge of industry and professional practices in their discipline, consistently develops solutions to complex problems, and leads projects from initiation through completion.

 Responsibilities to Anticipate for This Role

  • Support production and delivery of vehicles/products to the Customer, ensuring contractual and quality requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Quality, GDLS Plants, and Engineering to document and drive resolution of issues related to:
    • Design changes
    • Part shortages
    • Quality issues
    • Other production-impacting concerns
  • Coordinate development of retrofit plans for fielded vehicles that do not meet all contractual specifications, including planning, documentation, and implementation support.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and other process improvement initiatives as needed to improve cost, quality, and schedule performance.
  • Keep the Customer and GDLS Management aware of program issues requiring attention, providing clear communication, status, and recommendations.
  • Lead project teams to implement established strategies, upgrades, or process changes within their area of responsibility.
  • Fully own assigned projects from beginning to end, including planning, execution, risk management, and closure.
  • Provide counsel and recommendations based on interpreting and normalizing data/inputs from diverse sources and performing complex analysis.

Qualifications Sought

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline required.
  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business, Operations Management) preferred.

Years of Experience

  • Typically 7–10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, defense, automotive, or complex systems environment, with direct involvement in:
    • Production and delivery of technical products or vehicles
    • Cross-functional collaboration (e.g., Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain/Procurement, Operations/Plants)
    • Managing or leading technical projects or process improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience:
    • Developing solutions to a variety of complex technical and programmatic problems
    • Leading project teams to implement strategies, upgrades, or process changes
    • Fully owning projects/assignments from initiation through closure
    • Providing counsel and recommendations based on interpreting data from diverse sources and performing complex analysis

Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, taking ownership of issues and driving them to resolution.
  • Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment to ensure overall program success.
  • Experience developing technical documents and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills (preferred).
  • Familiarity navigating Teamcenter and Oracle or similar PLM/ERP systems (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to technical and non-technical audiences.
