Overnight Podcast Script Writer information

What does an overnight podcast script writer do?

An Overnight Podcast Script Writer is responsible for creating engaging and informative scripts for podcasts that are produced or released overnight. They often work late or unconventional hours to ensure content is ready for early morning publication or broadcast. Their tasks typically include researching topics, writing or editing scripts, and collaborating with podcast hosts and producers to deliver high-quality audio content under tight deadlines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight podcast script writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Overnight Podcast Script Writer, you need excellent writing, research, and storytelling skills, often supported by experience in journalism, creative writing, or media production. Familiarity with audio-editing software, content management systems, and sometimes SEO tools is typically required. Strong time management, adaptability, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure the delivery of engaging, accurate scripts on schedule, which is critical for maintaining content quality and meeting production timelines in a fast-paced media environment.

What are some common challenges faced by overnight podcast script writers, and how can they be managed?

Overnight Podcast Script Writers often work under tight deadlines to produce high-quality scripts by morning, which can be challenging when unexpected news breaks or last-minute changes arise. Maintaining creativity and accuracy during late-night hours requires strong time management and adaptability. Building a solid workflow, collaborating closely with producers and editors, and staying updated on current events are key strategies for success in this fast-paced environment.

Skilled writers with specialized knowledge or a strong portfolio can command higher compensation, especially when working for established podcasts or media companies. Compensation may also include freelance rates or project-based fees rather than fixed salaries.

Job description

Role

The Director of Brand at H+O will own the next chapter – expanding our market position and making H+O the default name for top‑tier developers nationwide. You’ve taken an expert‑led brand from "known in a niche" to "default choice" by turning their ideas into a consistent, compelling presence across channels. In this role, you will partner with our Co‑Founder and Principal, Rens Hayes, to grow the H+O brand and create a simple narrative for leading commercial real estate developers and their architectural partners. You will own the strategy and execution for LinkedIn, Design Development podcast, Instagram, events, case studies, email and all external messaging. You’ll also build and manage the small team producing the assets, allowing Rens to focus on ideas and relationships, not editing and coordination. You should genuinely enjoy working with subject‑matter experts, extracting their best stories, and turning them into systems driving real pipeline, not just vanity metrics.

Responsibilities Brand + Content Strategy
  • Develop and maintain a brand strategy that positions H+O as the go‑to structural partner for large multifamily and mixed‑use developers who care about structural cost and risk.
  • Build and manage a quarterly content calendar across LinkedIn, the Design Development podcast, Instagram, email newsletter, website, and case studies.
Founder‑Led Media System
  • Design and run a repeatable workflow for prepping topics and outlines for Rens’ recording days, capturing podcast and video content, and turning long‑form recordings into short‑form clips, carousels, and written posts.
  • Ensure Rens only needs to show up and perform; your team handles everything else.
Sales Enablement + Outbound Support
  • Create and maintain case‑study PDFs, one‑pagers, email scripts, and LinkedIn DM templates for outbound.
  • Align content themes with outbound campaigns, events, and account‑based marketing.
Events + Thought Leadership
  • Co‑design and execute small, high‑end events and dinners for Tier 1 developers and architects in Boston.
  • Support Rens on panels, keynotes, and live podcast concepts with decks, talking points, and post‑event assets.
Team Building + Management
  • Build and manage a small pod including a copywriter/content marketer, video editor/designer, and coordinator.
  • Set standards and processes for quality, timelines, and brand consistency.
  • Manage external vendors as needed.
Measurement + Optimization
  • Define and track brand‑to‑pipeline metrics including content engagement, high‑intent inbound, and influence on deals.
  • Use data to double down on what generates real conversations with Tier 1 developers and the firms that influence them.
Results
  • H+O is recognized by leading developers in New England (and expanding nationally) as the structural firm who:
  • Manages cost rigorously,
  • Saves millions without sacrificing performance,
  • And can move fast when deals are at risk.
  • Measurable increase in inbound interest from industry‑leading developers and architects, and warm responses to outbound that reference referrals, content, podcast, or events.
  • Rens spends the majority of his external time on high‑leverage conversations, podcast hosting, and strategic decisions – he is no longer the bottleneck on writing and editing.
  • Outbound reps have clear, on‑brand scripts and assets for every touchpoint (podcast invite, event invite, peer review offer).
  • Tier 1 events, podcast appearances, and LinkedIn content consistently generate new engaged Tier 1 accounts, first opportunities (proposal requests), and net‑new Tier 1 customers.
  • A documented media and brand playbook that can be run repeatedly in Boston and transplanted into new markets as H+O expands.
Requirements
  • 5+ years in brand and content leadership, ideally building a founder‑led or expert‑led B2B brand in professional services, tech, or an adjacent field – and taking it from "some presence" to clear category leadership.
  • Proven ability to own LinkedIn, podcast, Instagram, email, and event messaging as a coherent system.
  • Experience working closely with a founder or CEO as their media partner and managing a small creative team.
  • Strong grasp of direct‑response fundamentals, brand building, and how content supports complex, high‑ticket B2B sales cycles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; you can write in a founder’s voice and keep it sharp.
  • Comfort operating in a growing, founder‑led company where you’re building systems, not just running existing ones.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Boston and work in‑person with Rens and the team. Flexible WFH policy.
Compensation
  • $150,000–$250,000 base salary + up to 25 % bonus based on performance
  • The salary range is inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below)
Benefits
  • Employer‑sponsored Medical plan: 100 % covered for individuals, 50 % for family, with annual HRA contribution and FSA options
  • Short‑term disability, long‑term disability, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • 4 weeks PTO
  • Financial literacy training and open‑book financial management
  • Flexible work‑from‑home policy
  • Pre‑tax public transportation passes

H+O is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We encourage qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
