Job description

Summary of Position:

In the shellfish room, you are responsible for properly processing product for shipment to customers. Additional duties may include receiving, storing, and distributing products internally to ensure delivery schedules are met. The employee will ensure that high safety and sanitation standards are always maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to production schedule and customer orders to ensure proper packing and preparation of product for delivery.
  • Ensures that product is properly placed on racks, shelves, or in bins according to established practice.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to the packing station or shipping department, and prepares for shipping.
  • Ensure that the product is handled in a sanitary manner.
  • Adhere to the company’s safety practices at all times.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Arranges products in the specified sequence for processing by other workers as needed.
  • Drives forklift or other motorized equipment to transport items within the plant.
  • Supports in maintaining inventory records.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience – One to two years of related experience in food production. Seafood experience preferred.
  • Work ethic – A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Accuracy – Demonstrated ability to accurately pack product in a timely fashion.
  • Language – Basic English speaking and written proficiency.
  • Mathematical – Ability to perform basic arithmetic tasks – adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying.
  • Environmental: Willingness to work in a cold climate of 35º.
  • A combination of the above will also be considered.
  • Ability to work an overnight schedule and work weekends.
