The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE

Plans and carries out programs of occupational therapy for individuals based on the diagnosis and evaluation of the physician to facilitate rehabilitation of the mentally or physically ill patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluates the patients’ functional abilities and disabilities by tests, observations and information provided by family members, physician, nursing staff and others.

  • Plans treatment programs of therapy involving activities such as and, exercise, functional activity, self-care tasks, home management tasks, vocational and prevocational skills to help patients regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to their handicaps.

  • Educates patients and families in self-care technique, home modification, therapeutic exercise and activity, use of equipment and other relevant areas important for patient functioning and wellbeing.

  • Implements treatment programs of therapy involving activities such as and, exercise, functional activity, self-care tasks, home management tasks, vocational and prevocational skills to help patients regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to their handicaps.

  • Communication with other team members throughout the hospital related to patient progress, therapy recommendations and barriers to discharge.

  • Maintains required patient and department records.

  • Keeps abreast of issues and changes in the field by reading and attending professional meetings and seminars.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of both didactic and clinical requirements. Required

  • Graduation form curriculum approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association. Required

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Licensed by New York State. Required
