Position Type: Full-Timeย 
Overview:
We are a small family-owned microscope sales and service business, 40 years strong, seeking a motivated & reliable Small Parts/Instruments Service/Repair Technician to join our service team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on mechanical or technical repair experience who enjoys troubleshooting and working directly with customers.ย 
Experience with troubleshooting and repairing small instruments is a must; microscopes or laboratory/medical equipment repair experienceย  is preferred but not required - we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong mechanical and technical aptitude and work ethic. Responsibilities:
  • Perform general service and repairs on microscopes and laboratory instruments, both in-house and at customer sites.
  • Service and troubleshoot various equipment including: Binocular, trinocular (with digital camera), and multi-headed microscopes, Specialty microscopes and laboratory instruments.
  • Provide on-site service to customer accounts in: Hospitals, Labs, schools, research facilities, medical offices & industrial sites
  • Review service requests and inspect to diagnose issues & determine repair scope
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors and internal team membersย 
  • Exercise independent judgment to resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Complete accurate service documentation and field service reports.
  • Assist with light warehouse duties as needed (shipping, receiving, inventory, maintenance)
  • Support other projects and tasks as assigned
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with small equipment/instrument installation, service or mechanical repair
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilityย 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability & willingness to travel to customer sites
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be willing to travel, potentially overnight
  • A valid clean driverโ€™s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience servicing microscopes or laboratory/medical equipment.
  • Component-level troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Ability to analyze & repair small, complex mechanical or electromechanical components
Compensation:
Salary is based on experience. We offer competitive pay and are willing to train motivated individuals to become skilled service technicians.
Salary $55,120 - $62,400
