Job description

The bartender is an integral part of the success of the BackLot by contributing to sales, completing daily jobs, and providing overall guest satisfaction.

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Greet guests and make them feel comfortable by establishing a personal connection.
  • Communicate promptly, courteously, and effectively with all guests, management, and fellow team members.
  • Be knowledgeable about the BackLot brand and items sold with the ability to answer questions, make recommendations, and upsell. 
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, including item modifications, and serve wine, beer, mixed drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and standards put forth. 
  • Assist in the correction of any alcohol service concerns. 
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer and follow all money handling requirements/guidelines. 
  • Monitor guests for signs of intoxication and report to management.
  • Understand and follow proper rules of hygiene and food safety.
  • Follow all applicable liquor laws, company policies, and safety procedures to Harkins’ standards, and ensure all bar staff do the same. 
  • Perform bar setup, garnish preparation, stocking, glass washing/sanitizing, cleanup and closing duties. 
  • Ensure bar and table areas are clean, safe, maintained and organized in accordance with company guidelines. 

What We Are Looking For: 

  • Required to be at least 19 years of age.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a current food handler’s card and/or food safety certification, and complete Responsible Service Training, (AZ Title 4 Liquor – Basic).
  • 1+ year experience bartending preferred.
  • Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace and possess basic math skills, be fiscally responsible, and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, loud environment, with multiple flashing lights, while in a standing position for extended periods of time.
