Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Shipping/Receiving supervisor maintains focus on productivity, quality, cleanliness, as well as food and plant safety while holding the team members accountable for meeting all company expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Ensure associates receive quality training, and that asst. managers are providing proper documentation for all training on a daily basis.
  2. Lead and direct daily employee activities
  3. Oversee the application of all materials handling processes to ensure that department goals (FIFO, load times, inventory accuracy) and efficiencies are met.
  4. Ensure all departmental associates are compliant with EH&S policies and procedures to ensure the protection of employees and other individuals while minimizing the organizations exposure to loss and liability.
  5. Actively support all employee and labor relations to increase employee engagement.
  6. Review powered industrial equipment issues an put into place corrective and preventative actions to reduce unnecessary cost to the organization and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or experience

 Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of three years related experience with progressive managerial responsibilities preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. Will require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 50 pounds for finished cases, files, and computer printouts on occasion.

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing and freezer areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

Primary environment: refrigerated room temperatures, lighting and traditional processing equipment as found in a typical production/warehouse environment.
