POSITION OVERVIEW
The Electrical Designer III develops moderate to complex concepts of an electrical construction idea into either working construction drawings or permit drawing set. Working with other engineering disciplines to coordinate information regarding project equipment or layout to develop drawing packages. Working with construction teams and customer to coordinate necessary timelines and drawing reviews. High level understanding of control and automation to develop controls schematics and panel layouts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop moderate level of complexity electrical construction/permit package with minimal direction.
  • Develop moderate level of complexity electrical control cabinet drawings for fabrication with minimal direction.
  • Read scope of work for new projects and understand procedure to develop electrical drawing package with minimal direction.
  • Develop detailed redlines and comments of needed correction on drawing package for drafting distribution.
  • Coordinate with construction team/customers for drawing reviews and project schedules.
  • Receive minimal level of direction from senior personnel and engineering staff for drawing package development.
  • Use NEC (National Electric Code) or other electrical standard documents to reference proper construction standards.
  • Field visits to customer sites to as built or reverse engineer existing conditions of electrical equipment.
  • Work with project lead to determine timelines for deliverables.
  • Calculating and determining sizes for conduit, conductors, breakers, equipment, etc. Review with engineering staff for confirmation.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assign and prioritize tasks based on team capabilities and project requirements.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, offering constructive feedback. Ensure feedback is being shared with management
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for team-related issues.
  • Communicate essential information to employees and management
  • Review and approve time daily and timecards weekly or by deadlines for accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum 1-3 years electrical design experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years electrical design experience in Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, or other industrial sectors.
  • AA, AS, or certificate from credited school in CAD related program.
  • Must have high proficiency in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT.
  • Must have moderate to high knowledge in NEC (National Electrical Code).
  • Must have moderate to high knowledge in IEEE, NFPA, GO-95, API, and ISA standards.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to follow company drawing standards.
  • Ability to develop CAD blocks.
  • Travel Requirements:
  • Most work to be conducted from one of JTI's California offices. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

EQUIPMENT & APPLICATIONS /WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Sitting for Extended Periods - Spending long hours at a desk working on a computer, reviewing plans, or handling paperwork.
  • Typing and Computer Use - Engaging in frequent keyboard and mouse use for emails, reports, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Reading and Reviewing Documents - Handling blueprints, contracts, and reports, which may require prolonged focus and visual strain.
  • Occasional Lifting and Carrying - Moving documents, plans, or office supplies, typically up to 10-25 lbs.
  • Repetitive Hand and Finger Movements - Writing, typing, and using office equipment such as printers and phones.
  • Walking and Standing - Moving between office spaces, attending meetings, and sometimes walking through job sites.
  • Driving or Traveling - Visiting job sites or attending off-site meetings as necessary.
  • Wearing PPE as Needed - Donning safety gear (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, boots) when visiting active construction sites

Pay Range: $80,000 - $112,000/yr and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
