The Fleet Manager leads long-distance driver operations for residential moving services, overseeing scheduling, performance management, and compliance across multi-state markets. This role ensures efficient route planning, driver development, and fleet optimization while maintaining service quality and regulatory adherence. As a people leader, the Fleet Manager drives operational consistency and supports strategic initiatives to improve fleet performance and cost efficiency.
- Oversee daily operations of long-distance driver fleet including scheduling, route planning, and load assignments
- Manage driver performance through regular evaluations, coaching, and development programs
- Monitor fleet metrics such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and customer feedback
- Ensure DOT compliance and manage driver certifications and training
- Collaborate with dispatch, operations, and customer service teams to resolve issues and optimize fleet performance
- Implement process improvements and cost reduction initiatives across fleet operations
- Collaborates directly with the Senior Planner to optimize revenue opportunities and ensure cost-effective, compliant planning of all driver assignments in accordance with USDOT regulations.
- Partners with the Maintenance Department to support the upkeep and operational readiness of all JK equipment assigned to drivers, ensuring timely service and issue resolution.
- Maintains after-hours support coverage for assigned drivers, including participation in a weekend on-call rotation, to address urgent issues or emergencies and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
- Support strategic planning and reporting to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency
- Minimum 5 years in fleet management, transportation, or logistics
