Make a Difference in Pediatric Critical Care

At Grand Strand Medical Center, our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team provides advanced, compassionate care to critically ill and injured children. We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support pediatric patients and their families during some of their most challenging moments.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the team. The PICU RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.


What You Will Do:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and family members regarding treatment plans, procedures, and post-care needs.
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a patient advocate while promoting a culture of safety and excellenc

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in South Carolina or Compact RN License.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current PALS certification or ability to obtain within established timeframe.
  • One year of acute care RN experience required
  • Previous PICU, Pediatric, ICU, Emergency Department, or Critical Care experience required
