Job description

Description

ARM Group LLC is seeking a Survey Manager to join our Civil & Survey practice area. This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced surveying professional who's ready to guide project teams, manage complex survey operations, and ensure high-quality deliverables across a range of geospatial and construction-related projects.

As Survey Manager, you'll provide leadership and technical direction to a multi-disciplined team of field surveyors, CAD technicians, and project staff. You'll oversee the planning, execution, and quality control of survey projects while maintaining strong client relationships and supporting business growth. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance field oversight, team development, and project management - all within a collaborative environment built on ARM's core values of precision, responsiveness, and integrity.

Location: This opportunity can be based out of any ARM Group office location.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all survey operations, including field crews and office production.
  • Lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, as-built, and construction layout surveys across diverse projects.
  • Review, approve, and ensure quality of survey drawings, legal descriptions, plats, and CAD deliverables.
  • Coordinate with engineering, geotechnical, and construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and monitor performance against those metrics.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to survey staff and promote professional growth within the team.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to proposals, project pursuits, and new business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with field safety, QA/QC, and regulatory standards.
  • Stay current with emerging survey technologies (GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, UAV mapping) and drive continuous improvement.

Base Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive surveying experience, including 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity).
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GPS/GNSS systems, robotic total stations, and survey data processing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple crews, projects, and deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred:

  • Multi-state PLS licensure (PA, VA, NY, NJ, MD, WV).
  • Experience with UAV/drone-based surveys, LiDAR processing, and 3D modeling.
  • Proven track record in business development and client engagement.
  • Prior experience in a consulting or A/E/C firm environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Field-based position requiring work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round.
  • Frequent travel to job sites within the region including occasional overnight travel required.
