Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist (1st and 2nd shift)

Job Description

This role focuses on CNC milling operations in an aerospace machine shop, working primarily with aerospace-grade titanium and aluminum components. You will set up and operate CNC mills, including Makino and Haas machines up to the 3rd axis, using Fanuc controls and G-code programming. The position requires strong CNC mill operating experience, the ability to perform basic setups, and the capability to produce high-quality parts for aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including Makino and Haas mills, up to the 3rd axis to produce aerospace-grade titanium and aluminum components.
  • Use Fanuc controls to run programs, make necessary offsets, and adjust machine parameters to maintain part quality and efficiency.
  • Interpret and follow G-code programs, making minor edits as needed to optimize machining operations and ensure accurate part production.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Perform basic setups on CNC mills, including installing and aligning workholding, tooling, and fixtures according to job specifications.
  • Operate CNC mills with a focus on producing large-scale titanium and aluminum parts to aerospace or automotive quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to inspect parts and verify that dimensions meet specified tolerances.
  • Monitor machining processes, identify issues such as tool wear or dimensional drift, and make adjustments to maintain consistent quality.
  • Collaborate with team members, including programmers and other machinists, to resolve machining challenges and improve processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all shop procedures and safety guidelines in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a CNC mill machinist, with strong CNC mill operating experience in an aerospace environment.
  • Hands-on experience setting up CNC mills, including basic setup of workholding, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Proficiency with Fanuc controls for CNC milling operations.
  • Working knowledge of G-code, including the ability to understand and follow CNC programs.
  • Experience machining aerospace-grade titanium and aluminum components, preferably large-scale parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers for part inspection.
  • Experience working in aerospace or automotive manufacturing environments.
  • Experience operating CNC mills, with exposure to Haas mills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Makino CNC machines up to the 3rd axis.
  • Background in CNC setup for mills and familiarity with related tooling and fixturing.
  • Experience as a CNC operator on mills, with exposure to lathes considered beneficial when gained in an aerospace environment.
  • Comfort working with tight tolerances and high-specification aerospace parts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a machine shop team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.

Why Work Here?

You will join a stable aerospace manufacturer with long-term contracts secured through 2027, providing strong job security and consistent work. The organization focuses on high-precision, technically challenging projects that offer opportunities to grow your machining skills and deepen your experience with advanced materials and equipment. You will work in a professional shop environment that values quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

You will work in an aerospace machine shop environment focused on precision machining of titanium and aluminum components. The shop uses CNC mills, including Makino and Haas machines, controlled by Fanuc systems and programmed with G-code.
