Job description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software (e.g., CamWorks, Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM).
  • Must be able to program CNC 3-axis and 5-axis mills using Cam software.
  • Reading complex prints, designs, able to transfer in and out of CNC machines
  • Work from drawings, sketches, specifications and verbal instructions to make parts.
  • Must be able to navigate Solidworks well, while being able to design and edit models using Solidworks.
  • Must be able to read G & M code.
  • Must also be able to program and operate one or more of the following Specialty machines: CNC Grinder, High Speed Mills or Wire EDMs'.
  • Must be capable and willing to train other machinists, showing them the proper way to use common shop Machine tools and inspection equipment
  • Work to close tolerances
  • Able to inspect own machined components using precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
  • Setup machines for operation by others
  • Keep work area and equipment clean
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently on projects with little assistance.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Qualifications include:
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years' experience in a machine shop
  • Knowledge of precision measuring devices
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and sketches
  • Must have at least 3 years CNC mill programming experience
  • CAMWorks and SolidWorks proficient
  • A proven mechanical aptitude
  • Advanced shop mathematics skills
  • Broad knowledge of machine shop practices
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and problem solve
  • Strong work ethic and follow through
  • Work is subject to process and final inspection
  • Must consistently use safety devices when operating machines
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Must have a good attendance record
  • Must be able to work well with others in the shop
