Job description

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a Technician 1 - Multiskilled based in Benicia, CA.

You'll perform maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on Aggreko power generation and temperature control equipment. This field-focused role supports our customers throughout the area while ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for operation.

Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil-free air without end. We keep our customers' worlds on. From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.

What you'll do:

  • You'll be based out of our Benicia, CA service center and primarily work in the field supporting customer locations, with local travel in your company vehicle and occasional overnight travel.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on power generators, diesel and natural gas engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment, chillers, and related temperature control equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures at customer locations and at the service center, working independently or alongside other technicians to diagnose and complete repairs.
  • Read and understand schematics and use your mechanical and electrical knowledge to safely troubleshoot equipment and support customer needs.
  • When not at a customer location, support equipment maintenance, readiness, and turnaround activities at the Benicia service center.

You are:

  • Mechanically and technically inclined with hands-on experience in power generation/generators, commercial or industrial HVAC, chillers, electrical systems, or a related technical field.
  • Experienced with preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, hand tools, and working safely around mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
  • Comfortable learning new equipment and technologies - you can bring expertise in one product area and we'll help you develop your skills across additional Aggreko product lines.
  • A high school graduate/GED holder with a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain any certifications required for customer locations.
  • Comfortable working in a field-service environment, interacting with customers, traveling locally, and participating in an on-call rotation approximately once every five weeks.

Other essential job requirements

  • Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations as needed, and be on standby for work outside regularly scheduled shifts.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time and walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require special assistive devices.
  • Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that permits work to be safely performed from ground/floor level to full overhead level.
  • Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and sufficient grip strength to safely hold tools and stair railings or ladders.
  • Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, including the ability to lift 60 lbs., push/pull 80 lbs., carry 60 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, climb while carrying 15 lbs., stoop, kneel and squat.
