ATTN Prior Tyson Workers:

Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 180 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (Experience must be documented on your application)

  • 1+ years of industrial refrigeration experience; Education (possess industrial refrigeration diploma or currently enrolled in a technical school) in lieu of experience. Operator 1 or RETA 1 license preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY: Food Production - Refrigeration Technician - Full-Time - Kansas City, KS

This facility is a highly automated meat processing/packaging facility located in Kansas City, KS. This position works overnight, 12-hour shifts; 6am-6pm, or 6 pm - 6 am. Rotating two-week schedule with a 3-day weekend offevery other week.

Pay Range: $29.75 to $42.50/HR(Pay commensurate with experience)

With little to no supervision provide maintenance support to ensure the safe and effective operation of ammonia refrigeration systems, HCFC systems, hot water, compressed air, and steam systems. Must be able to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment and the ability to effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:(Include, but are not limited to, the following)

  • Performing and consulting on robust preventative maintenance and refrigeration repairs.
  • Expertly performing emergency mechanical or electrical repairs, andtroubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, pump, pressure, and hydraulic plant equipment.
  • Understanding boiler theory, RETA Operator I, and IIAR Basic NH3 Refrigeration schematics will be required for this role.
  • Must be able to pass a HAZ-Mat physical and pass the training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level and participate on the Emergency Response Team.
  • Must assist and support training and development of more junior Refrigeration Technicians.
  • Also responsible for minimizing downtime due to equipment and system failure.
  • Basic math skills; percentages, fractions and measurements
  • Must haveProcess Safety Management (PSM)experience.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance including Pneumatics, PLC's, Motor controls, and shop equipment operation desired.
  • Other duties as assigned.

FOR ALL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation)

  • Must be willing and able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be willing and able to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
  • Must be willing and able to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend and stoop
  • Must be willing and able to perform repetitive gripping, pushing and pulling
  • Must be willing and able to perform frequent overhead work
  • Must be willing and able to work with temperatures inside plant that may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees and outside workwill be required
