Job description

Description:

The Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s is seeking a child and adolescent BE/BC psychiatrist with an interest in the treatment and diagnosis of eating disorders in youth at our Linder Center of Hope. Our Mental Health Team uses evidence-based approaches – proven to be the most advanced and most effective – to treat the full spectrum of child and adolescent mental and behavioral health problems.

Our Linder Center of Hope location provides intensive inpatient psychiatric services for adolescents ages 12-17 presenting with a range of mental health disorders, including eating disorders (EDO). The inpatient EDO program is looking for collaborative child psychiatrists to join a multidisciplinary team. Future growth includes re-opening of a partial hospitalization program (PHP) to provide intensive step-down care for youth with eating disorders and other mental health disorders. Eating disorder care provided at the Linder Center of Hope includes:
• Direct support during meals and snacks for the patient and family support system
• Monitoring of weights, vital signs, clinical labs
• Active engagement with our Registered Dieticians for nutritional needs and meal planning
• Oral and enteral supplementation to meet nutritional needs
• Medical consultation with our Adolescent Medicine team
• Goal setting that includes the patient and family support system
• Individual supportive psychotherapy (daily on inpatient, twice per week in PHP)
• Behavioral consultation with individualized behavioral interventions and safety plans
• Daily EDO-specific DBT group therapy
• Multiple, daily generalized goal-oriented and skill development CBT groups
• FBT-informed family support and education
• Community partnerships for continuity of EDO care to needed step-down PHP setting, residential care, and outpatient community services

Our Mental Health and Eating Disorder Teams are comprised of the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Division of Behavioral Medicine & Clinical Psychology, and the Division of Adolescent and Transition Medicine. We provide multidisciplinary outpatient, intensive outpatient and inpatient psychiatric and medical care to adolescents and young adults and are supported by:
• 32 Child Psychiatrists, including 10 Triple Board Trained Psychiatrists
• 18 Adolescent medicine physicians
• 150 Psychologists, including 3 psychologists who specialize in eating disorders
• 44 Psychiatric APRNs
• 119 masters-level therapists
• 39 Social Workers providing crisis services in the emergency department

The Eating Disorder Program at Cincinnati Children’s is an interdisciplinary, multi-level program serving children, teens, young adults and their families affected by eating disorders. The outpatient program housed within the Division of Adolescent and Transition Medicine in partnership with the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology, and Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, offers evidence based, coordinated treatment from a group of 10 physicians, 3 psychologists, 2 dietitians, 2 nurse care managers and a psychiatric APRN. Annual new patient volume approached 600 new cases and a medical stabilization unit at the CCHMC Liberty campus provided over 1,000 patient days of inpatient medical care to malnourished patients last year. Outpatient EDO services include medical treatment for complications of weight loss or purging, family therapy, individual therapy, one-on-one dietician appointments, personalized meal plans and medication management.

A generous benefits package includes 5 weeks of vacation, 1 week for CME, relocation if needed, retirement contribution, life/disability insurance, and malpractice coverage. Faculty Rank will be commensurate with experience. Skill in treating patients with eating disorders is preferred, but not required, with training opportunities available if indicated.
