Job description
Emish Market is a Ukrainian grocery store located in Fife, WA, offering a wide selection of imported goods from Ukraine and other European countries. In addition to our market, we operate a full-service café, bakery, and meat department, preparing fresh Ukrainian dishes, pastries, and specialty meats daily. Our mission is to create a warm, authentic, and memorable experience for every guest.
We are currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our night shift kitchen team. This role focuses on food preparation to support our café, bakery, and deli operations and is ideal for someone who works well independently and takes pride in consistent, high-quality prep work.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion guidelines, and quality standards
- Assist with overnight meal and food production for the café, bakery, and deli
- Ensure all food is prepared, labeled, stored, and handled in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient prep workspace
- Follow established recipes, portion standards, and production schedules
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations during service
- Support the kitchen manager and team with prep work, special events, and menu changes
Work Schedule: 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM, Tuesday through Saturday
Pay & Compensation: $20 per hour
Benefits:
- 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked
- $2 extra per hour worked on Sundays
- 1 week paid vacation after 1 year, 2 weeks after 2 years
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a prep cook or in a commercial kitchen preferred
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Understanding of basic kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Knowledge of Ukrainian or Eastern European cuisine is a plus
