Description:

The purpose of this classification is to operate Company switchboard; provide clerical support to the buying staff in the Merchandising Department; provide assistance to stores by researching special order requests; and provide general assistance to stores on about vendors and merchandise.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Performs a variety of clerical and receptionist duties such as greeting visitors, answering incoming calls, relaying messages to staff members, directing visitors/callers to appropriate personnel, providing information and assistance, faxing information, data entry, typing and distributing letters, reports, memos, etc.
  • Assists stores with special orders by researching necessary information by contacting vendor for merchandise cost, fabric information, merchandise availability, etc.
  • Communicates to stores general information such as vendor and merchandise information.
  • Orders merchandise parts; communicates to stores any needed information about replacement parts.
  • Prepares weekly merchandising packages to be sent to stores.
  • Processes special order information requested by stores.
  • Reviews weekly reports to follow up on special orders; contacts vendor for shipping updates and relays information to store personnel.
  • Communicates with MIS Department regarding telephone equipment problems.
  • Completes, prepares, routes a variety of forms, logs, requests, records, reports, correspondence, and other documents associated with daily responsibilities of this position; prepares and maintains files and records.
  • Operates a computer terminal, printer, calculator, copy machine, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED; one year experience in general office or customer service; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
