Post-Doctoral Research Scholar - Shankar's Lab

Job Title: Post-Doctoral Research Position. Position Number: 8151027. Work Modality: Fully In-Person. Job Category: University Staff. Job Type: Full-Time. FLSA Status: Exempt. Campus: Maywood-Health Sciences Campus. Department: BURN SHOCK TRAUMA INSTITUTE. Location Code: BURN SHOCK TRAUMA INSTITUTE (06320A). This position is split and fully grant funded.

Position Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Rama Shankar at Loyola University Chicago is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a newly established research program focused on systems immunology and multi-omics approaches to study sepsis, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), and critical illness. The successful candidate will lead innovative projects integrating singleโ€‘cell and bulk transcriptomics, epigenomics, and clinical data to identify immune mechanisms and biomarkers associated with disease progression and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead independent and collaborative research projects
  • Analyze and integrate multiโ€‘omics datasets
  • Develop computational pipelines using R/Python

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
  • M.D. or Ph.D. required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with bench work
  • Experience with singleโ€‘cell and multiโ€‘omics integration
  • Familiarity with RNAโ€‘seq, EdgeR, Seurat, Harmony, Monocle3, or scVelo
  • Knowledge of immunology
  • Experience with clinical datasets and HPC
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated problemโ€‘solving and organizational skills
Computer Skills
  • General office suite and willingness to learn labโ€‘specific programs
  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python
  • Experience with nextโ€‘generation sequencing
  • Record of peerโ€‘reviewed publications

Position Maximum Salary: $75,564 per annum. Position Minimum Salary: $62,232 per annum.
