Job description

  • Generate 3-dimensional parts and assemblies in Siemens NX with guidance from senior personnel
  • Develop geometry for FEA and CFD analysis models
  • Prepare process flow diagrams and process and instrumentation diagrams for primary and balance of plant systems
  • Create 2-dimensional line drawings and figures for reports
  • Assist engineers and senior designers in developing design documentation for engineering reports and studies
  • Maintain CAD part metadata in Aras Product Lifecycle Management system
  • Work alongside engineers and senior Designer/Drafters on NuScale structures, systems, and components, including mechanical, structural, electrical, and system components
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to NuScale safety culture and model safe behavior
  • Understand and implement quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1
Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in drafting, engineering graphics technology, or pre-engineering from an accredited college or university required
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or another comparable technical discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time, directly applicable working experience required
  • A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering may be considered in lieu of work experience
  • Familiarity with drafting standards and best practices through on-the-job training, internship, or classroom experience
  • Familiarity with CAD modeling tools including Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
  • Application of Part Manufacturing Information (PMI) on models is a plus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid computer, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
  • Ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation
  • Ability to understand and communicate clearly using phones, personal interaction, and computers
  • Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend, understand, and apply new concepts quickly in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands to operate office equipment, and reach with hands and arms
  • Must perform essential duties efficiently and accurately without causing a significant safety threat to self or others
