Learn more about why you should join our team at www.sled.sc.gov.    General Responsibility Support SLED's GIS and SCIBRS programs by collecting, processing, analyzing, validating, and visualizing crime and criminal justice data

Utilize SCIBRS and related datasets to develop maps, dashboards, reports, spatial analysis products, and analytical summaries that support crime-data reporting, operational awareness, trend analysis, intelligence-led policing, and executive decision-making. Serve as a bridge between crime-data reporting and geospatial analysis, helping transform statewide crime data into actionable information for SLED leadership, CJIS programs, law enforcement partners, and other authorized stakeholders. Specific Duties Collect, process, analyze, validate, and maintain spatial and tabular crime data from SCIBRS/NIBRS and related criminal justice datasets.

Assist with data quality, completeness reviews, timely reporting, and applicable state and national data collections, including SCIBRS, NIBRS, LEOKA, Use of Force, and Law Enforcement Suicide Data Collection. Develop geospatial and analytical products using crime and criminal justice data, including maps, web maps, dashboards, charts, analytical layers, spatial summaries, trend reports, and other GIS-based products to support operational awareness, executive reporting, crime analysis, and intelligence-led policing initiatives. Support routine and special crime-data reporting, including Crime in South Carolina, executive summaries, agency verification reports, county or regional trend products, and ad hoc analytical requests.

Interpret data using statistical, spatial, and analytical methods and communicate findings clearly to technical and non technical audiences. Collaborate with SCIBRS, GIS, CJIS, IT, other SLED units, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to improve data access, data quality, visualization, analysis, reporting, and information sharing. Provide technical assistance, documentation, outreach, and training support.

Minimum and Additional Requirements An associate's degree in geography, geographic information systems, data analytics, statistics, computer science, information systems, or a related field; or a high school diploma and relevant work experience. Current NCIC certification or the ability to become NCIC certified. Knowledge of geospatial concepts, crime data collection, data management, analysis, visualization, and presentation of information.

Ability to analyze and interpret spatial and tabular data using statistical, analytical, and geospatial methods. Ability to manage priorities, document workflows, troubleshoot basic data or software issues, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Must be able to pass a state and national finger-print based background check.

Some state travel, including overnight travel may be required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, data analytics, statistics, information systems, or a related field. Experience with ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
