Job description

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, located in Atlanta, GA, has an opening for an Sr. Accountant/Officer Allowance.

Key responsibilities:

Performs senior-level accounting and financial administration for ARC Command and its Centers, including account reconciliation, financial reporting, corporate credit card administration, Property Request processing, and Officer Allowance and Tax Grant support.

  • Maintains accurate Officer quarters, vehicle, mileage, and income records; prepares annual Federal and State Tax Grant Authorizations and quarterly payments; and coordinates Officer Allowance and Tax Grant matters.
  • Develops and implements processes and procedures at both the ARC Command and field levels to support financial consolidation and regulatory compliance.

Accounting Operations

  • Monitors the Property Request for Funds process, ensuring payments received from THQ are accurately posted by Accounts Receivable and related payments to Centers or vendors are processed by Accounts Payable.

Bank Reconciliation and Financial Reporting

  • Prepares monthly ARC Command bank reconciliations and submits them to the ARC Command Finance Director for review and approval prior to finalizing the reconciliations in SAGE.
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly financial reports using SAGE, including Net Remittance Reports, Two-Year Comparative Reports, Store Reports, and other related reports.

Officer Allowance and Tax Administration

  • Maintains the Officer Quarters database, updating records whenever an Officer moves.
  • Maintains the Officer Vehicle database, updating vehicle information whenever an Officer receives a new vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. 
  • Work requires travel and overnight stays throughout the Southern Territory and can include travel to locations outside of the Southern Territory.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related field, and three years' experience performing accounting, bookkeeping or auditing work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
