    Location: Kodiak Campus, Jacksonville, FL

    Job Type: Full-Time | 10-Month Contract

    Salary: Starting at $49,500 (based on experience)

    Job Summary-

    Global Leadership Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate High School American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher to provide standards-based instruction and support student achievement in world language acquisition. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment that develops students’ ASL communication skills, cultural awareness, and understanding of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Deliver standards-aligned American Sign Language instruction for high school students

    Develop students’ proficiency in ASL communication, including expressive and receptive signing skills

    Teach ASL vocabulary, grammar, conversation skills, and Deaf culture awareness

    Incorporate cultural understanding and real-world applications to enhance language learning

    Assess student progress and use data to inform instruction

    Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs

    Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

    Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress

    Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and school staff

    Participate in professional development, department meetings, and school activities

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

    Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in American Sign Language (K–12) or related certification

    Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills

    Knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and ASL linguistics

    Preferred Qualifications

    3+ years of teaching experience

    Experience teaching ASL at the secondary level

    Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students or the Deaf community

    Work Schedule

    Monday through Friday

    8-hour shift
