Overview
Advanced Gynecology, a practice partner of Together Women's Health is seeking a PRN Pre-Op/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse. The Pre-Op/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role includes pre-operative assessment, patient preparation, and post-operative recovery, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and continuity of care in accordance with established protocols and nursing standards.
Responsibilities
Pre-Operative Duties:
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments prior to surgery, including medical history review, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
  • Ensure informed consent and pre-op checklists are completed.
  • Start IVs and administer pre-operative medications as ordered.
  • Communicate with surgical and anesthesia teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families.

Post-Anesthesia Care Duties:
  • Monitor and manage patients emerging from anesthesia in the PACU.
  • Assess airway, breathing, circulation, level of consciousness, pain, and surgical site.
  • Administer post-op medications, including pain management and antiemetics.
  • Identify and respond to potential post-anesthesia complications promptly.
  • Educate patients and families regarding discharge instructions or ongoing recovery.

Qualifications
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care, emergency, pre-op, or PACU setting.
