Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
  • Perform inspections and witness tests as required by Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures and specifications.
  • Prepare reports and quality records in compliance with Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures.
  • Coordinate areas of QC work with other departments as required, i.e. start-up, engineering, outfitting, etc.
  • Must be able to attend company meetings on a regular basis and provide feedback to all levels of HPSI management.
  • Must be able to take ownership of an assigned project, a vessel or part of a vessel will be assigned to the employee and it shall be their responsibility to manage the Quality Outfitting aspect of the stated area or Project.
  • Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, and working functionality per Hanwha Philly Shipyard requirements
  • Perform incoming inspections on material for work in conjunction with material control staff as required
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Must be able to visually inspect all outfitting functions, piping, flanges, gaskets, valves, hydro’s and air tests to ensure proper installation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2 Years related experience in discipline or 5 years in Shipboard Piping, machinery, and/or similar installations.
  • Knowledge of Piping systems, vessel equipment (Deck Machinery, Hydro Tests, Visual Inspections, Tank inspections, flushing.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding a plus
  • Knowledge of Marine Classification Society Rules
  • Knowledge of testing/inspection equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints a must or be trainable to read blue prints.
  • Ability to communicate with Production team, Owner, & Class Society representatives.
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft a plus (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include confined spaces, working from heights, noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A range of motion sufficient to perform general lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, climbing, working at heights, extended walking or standing, etc. is required. This is not a desk job, it is a 70/30 position, 70% on the vessel or the field and 30% office.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is an on-site, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.
