Position Overview

As an Outdoor Living & Grill Zone Sales Team Member at Hartville Hardware, you are the go-to expert for guests making some of their most exciting home purchases - from patio furniture and outdoor accessories to gas grills, charcoal grills, and everything in between. You bring product knowledge, genuine enthusiasm, and a consultative approach to every conversation.

This part-time role combines two adjacent and highly engaging departments. You will rotate through both Outdoor Living and the Grill Zone, giving you broad product exposure and the opportunity to become a true outdoor lifestyle authority for our guests. If you love talking about grills, outdoor decor, and backyard living - and you enjoy helping people create spaces they love - this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
  • Greet and assist guests in both the Outdoor Living department and the Grill Zone with enthusiasm and strong product knowledge
  • Provide personalized recommendations for outdoor furniture, grills, patio accessories, and related products
  • Effectively communicate product features and benefits to help guests make confident purchasing decisions
  • Upsell and cross-sell complementary outdoor living products to enhance the overall guest experience
  • Address guest inquiries, concerns, returns, exchanges, and warranty-related issues in a professional and timely manner
Grill Zone
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of our grill lineup - gas, charcoal, pellet, and specialty grills - including brands, features, BTUs, cooking capacity, and warranty offerings
  • Guide guests through the grill selection process based on their cooking style, budget, and needs
  • Stay current on new grill releases, promotions, and accessories to provide the most up-to-date recommendations
Product Knowledge & Merchandising
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of outdoor living products, including features, benefits, and maintenance requirements
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new product releases, and advancements in outdoor living and grilling technology
  • Ensure that both the Outdoor Living department and the Grill Zone are well-organized, clean, and visually appealing
  • Collaborate with the merchandising team to create eye-catching displays that showcase featured products
Inventory & Team Collaboration
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the inventory control team to restock products as needed
  • Conduct regular checks for damaged or defective merchandise and initiate appropriate actions
  • Work closely with other team members, customer service representatives, and management to meet department goals
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to stay informed about new products and industry developments
  • Use point-of-sale systems and store technology accurately to process transactions
Grill Zone Requirement
Team members in this role are required to work in the Grill Zone and develop sales expertise across our full grill assortment. Knowledge of grilling - or a genuine enthusiasm for learning - is essential. You will be expected to confidently recommend grills to guests based on their cooking style and budget.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet sales goals
  • Basic computer skills for point-of-sale transactions and product information retrieval
