Outdoor Garden Associate information

What does an outdoor garden associate do?

An Outdoor Garden Associate assists customers with selecting plants, gardening tools, and outdoor supplies, while providing expert advice on plant care, gardening techniques, and landscape solutions. They are responsible for maintaining the appearance of the garden center, watering plants, stocking shelves, and ensuring all merchandise is displayed properly. Additionally, they may help with loading purchases into customers' vehicles and keeping the outdoor area clean and organized. Excellent customer service and a basic knowledge of horticulture are important in this role.

To thrive as an Outdoor Garden Associate, you need knowledge of plants, gardening techniques, and customer service skills, often supported by experience in retail or horticulture. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management tools, and possibly forklift certification are typically required. Strong communication, physical stamina, and a helpful attitude help associates assist customers and handle outdoor tasks effectively. These skills ensure customers receive accurate advice, products are well-stocked, and the garden center operates smoothly.

Collaborating with team members and seeking guidance from more experienced staff can also help in addressing customer inquiries and maintaining a safe, efficient garden center.
