Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic vehicle maintenance is typically expected. While many routes are independent, drivers frequently communicate with dispatchers and customers to coordinate schedules and address any issues on the road. Work hours can vary based on the company and specific routes, but adaptability and good planning help manage the demands. Over time, experienced drivers may have opportunities to move into roles such as route trainer, dispatcher, or fleet supervisor.

What is an OTR box truck driver?
